The videos posted are Democrats defending moving oversight of Fannie and Freddie from congress to the treasury. In other words, Republicans were trying to move control of 2/3 of all mortgages to the executive branch.,,an APPOINTEE would have total control. There wouldn't be more or better regulation. It's a propaganda piece plain and simple. Financial institutions were involved in deceptive and complex predatory practices for short-term profits according the the FBI.

@HUGEBRANE REALLY?lol Despite Freddie and Fannie owning 2/3rds of all mortgages, they were only responsible for 20% of subprime market BECAUSE they are regulated. When Greenspan and bankers testified twice before congress they did not mention loans to the poor or Freddie and Fannie. Why's that? Your conspiracy theory is hogwash and embarrassingly silly...why did it work fine for so many years? Why did OTC derivatives jump 6,000% in a 7 year period.

I agree with most of what you're saying but again do you think it's OK for a bank to charge more than 4 or 5 percent interest (7 if a persons credit is real bad)? anything over 7 based on income ratio is just corrupt as hell on the banks part. NakedEmp do you work for a bank? Anyways, I think 4-5 percent interest is fair. not 9 or 10 as I once payed. Or 14 as my parents paid in the 1980s. That being said, I still can't figure out why I can't get SSD or work because Im old, middle class white (not for long if I don't find some work) while people from the projects (hood) get free rent or a fraction of rent that is as much as 3000-4000 a month and get several hundred dollars per child and foodstamps. They live better then we do.

Funny how the Democrats keep blaming Bush for the mortgage meltdown. Clear enough that the housing mess was caused mostly by Democrat policies going back to FDR and the creation of Fannie Mae in 1938. Then add the Community Reinvestment Act under Carter in 1977, and Bill Clinton's further weakening of Fannie and Freddie lending standards during the 1990s. Especially amusing to hear Maxine Waters praise Franklin Raines. Hard to beat that for absurdity.
